Hamble Valley & Eastleigh Heritage Guides is an independent association of volunteers, operating on a not-for-profit basis. We are all fully trained guides, and a number of our members have also been active in other guiding institutes, local history groups and tourism units. Our patron is eminent local historian Dr Cheryl Butler. Local Area Committees and Botley Market Town Initiative generously provided grants to help with set up costs in our first two years.
We offer public guided walks for both local people and visitors, helping to explore and explain the extensive heritage of the area. In addition to the public walks listed on this website all of our walks can be booked by private groups for evening or daytime walks or tours.
The Hamble Valley and Eastleigh Borough have a rich and varied heritage. From the first mention in the Domesday Book in 1086 until today, fascinating tales are to be told about the places and the people who have lived and worked here. A small clue pointed out, or a careful explanation from a knowledgeable guide can lead you on an exploration of stories and fascinating facts that you may only have suspected. Check out our schedule of walks, pick one you like the sound of, and come along. You will be made most welcome.
